AMAC VOLLEYBALL BARCELONA 2011
RULES
1. INTERNATIONAL VOLLEYBALL ASSOCIATION (FIVB) official Volleyball rules will be used.
2. TEAMS:
a. A team may have no more than 10 players on the roster for the tournament.
b. The number of substitutions in a set is UNLIMITED.
c. A substitute player may enter the game in place of a player in the starting line-up. These 2 players may now be exchanged throughout the match. They may not be substituted for a 3rd player. All substitutions other than the LIBERO or his/her replacement player require the referee´s authorization.
d. Each Team has the right to designate among the list of 10 players one specialized defensive player LIBERO:
e. The LIBERO must wear a uniform whose jersey at least must contrast in colour with that of the other members of the team.
3. UNIFORMS:
a. Numbers may be between 1 and 99.
b. Players may wear glasses or lenses at their own risk,
4. BALLS:
a. All balls used in a match may have the same standards regarding circumference, weight, pressure, type, color…
b. 3 Balls per game shall be used.
5. DURATION OF A MATCH:
a. During Round-Robin play a match will be the best of 3 Sets for Girls and best of 5 sets for Boys.
b. The championship games for Girls and Boys will be best of 5 sets.
c. A set (except the deciding 3rd or 5th sets) is won by the team which first scores 25 points with a minimum lead of 2 points (up to 35 points).
d. In the case of a tie (1-1 in girls, 2-2 in boys during Round-Robin and 2-2 for girls and boys in championship game) the deciding set is played to 15 points with a minimum lead of 2 points (up to 25 points).
6. REFEREES: A first referee, second referee and scorer must be used for all matches. Line judges are optional.
7. POINTS AWARDED: During Round-Robin play a TEAM will be awarded 2 POINTS for a WINJ and 1 POINT for a LOSS.
8. WARM-UP: Warm-up will be on court 3 (extra court). Teams will have only 5 minutes warm-up on the actual Match COURT (1 or 2).
9. CLASSIFICATION OF TEAMS:
a. The schedule will be determined by a draw.
b. ROUND-ROBIN:
GIRLS: each team will play 5 matches (6 teams)
BOYS: each team will play 3 matches (4 teams)
c. At the end of the Round-Robin classification play teams shall be classified according to their WINN-LOSS records using the points awarded outlined in AMAC rule 7.
d. At the end of the ROUND-ROBIN classification with equal points, the result of the match between the 2 teams involved will be used to determine the standings.
e. If there are more than 2 teams equal at the end of the round-robin classification, then the number of sets lost will be subtracted from the number of sets won to determine the place of each team, taking into account only the results of the matches between the teams still tied. The team with the highest number will get the highest place.
f. If the teams are still tied, the places will be determined by the total number of points scored against subtracted from the number of points scored, taking into account only the results of the matches between teams still tied. The team with the highest number will get the highest place.
g. If at any stage, using the criteria above a multiple team tie is reduced to a tie involving only 2 teams the procedure in d. will be applied.
h. If it is reduced to a tie still involving more than 2 teams, the procedure, beginning with f. above, is repeated.
10. PLAY-OFF GAMES
a. For the GIRLS Tournament (6 teams): after the Round Robin all teams still have a chance to win AMAC.
SEED 4 will play against SEED 5 and SEED 3 will play against SEED 6
Then SEED 1 will play against the winner of the game seed 4 and 5
SEED 2 will play against the winner of the game seed 3 and 6
5th and 6th place game: losers from games Seed 4 vs Seed 5 and Seed 3 vs seed 6
3rd and 4th Place game: losers from games Seed 1 vs 4/5 and Seed 2 vs 3/6
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME (best of 5 sets)
b. For the BOYS Tournament (4 teams): after the Round Robin all teams still have a chance to win AMAC.
Seed 1 will play against Seed 4
Seed 2 will play against Seed 3
The 2 teams winners from those games will play the CHAMPIONSHIP game and the losers will play for the 3rd-4th place.
